The CTR ride of 2007 was a huge success. The weather on
Saturday was a little chilly but the rain held off and
the 25 and 50 milers finished with out any problems.
The grand champion of the Saturday 25 mile ride was Lisa
German and Mary Mast was the reserve champion.
Division winners were Lisa German, light weight, Mary
Mast, middle weight and Opal Perry heavy weight.
Junior division Laureen Selders. Best Arab, Hilarie
Daniel, best part Arab, Lisa German and best of the
rest, Tim German.
As you can see, the German family had a good day.
Sunday was a warm and sunny day. Ten riders went on in
the 50 mile ride. Next out were the 25 mile Sunday
riders followed by the 12.5 mile novice riders.
The grand champion of the 50 mile ride was Jo Decker and
Helen Cantrell was the reserve champion.
Division winners were Tali Sorenson, light weight, Jo
Decker, middle weight and Janet Kirkpatrick, heavy
weight,
Junior division was Gabrielle Eastman, Best Arab Jo
Decker, best part Arab Leah Palestrant and best of the
rest Carol Blakley.
The grand champion of the Sunday 25 mile ride was Kitra
Casteel and the reserve champion was Becky McCarty.
Division winners were Becky McCarty, light weight and
Mary Mast, middle weight, there were no heavy weight.
Junior division was Kitra Casteel, best Arab, Roseanne
Clark, best part Arab, Becky McCarty and best of the
rest Kitra Casteel. Kitra had a great ride!
The top finisher in the novice division was Peggy Rowe.
Best Arab, Patricia Holsbeke, best part Arab, Peggy Rowe
and the best of the rest, Valerie Minich. The best
junior was Isiah Mowery.
I want to thank all the volunteers who worked at the
ride and all the folks who donated food items and
prizes. This was our largest and best ride to date and
you folks made it happen.
We sponsor this ride in conjunction with the Wood County
OHC and the monies are used to make improvements at Van
Buren State Park. Anyone who has ridden in the park over
the last 10 years will tell you how every year more and
more improvements on trail and in the campground have
been made. This year we will be adding a riding arena
for all to enjoy.
Congratulations to all the contestants and big thanks to
the donors and volunteers for making this the best Ride
Like a Fool CTR yet! See you at next years ride.
